Water Baptism

Water baptism is a public declaration of faith in Jesus Christ and an act of obedience to His command. It symbolizes the believer's identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection and is an outward expression of the new life found in Him. While baptism does not save, it is the biblical next step for every person who has placed their faith in Jesus Christ.

Matthew 28:19 (The Great Commission)

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."

Acts 2:38

"Peter replied, 'Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.'"

Mark 16:15–16

*"He said to them, 'Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not will be condemned.

Vision Heights Church Baptism FAQ

Who should be baptized?

1

Water baptism is for those who have personally repented of their sins and placed their faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. It is a public declaration of a personal relationship with Christ and is the biblical next step after salvation.

Does baptism save me?

2

No. Salvation is received by God's grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by the act of baptism. Water baptism is an act of obedience that publicly identifies a believer with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Following the example found in the New Testament, we baptize believers by full immersion in water. Immersion beautifully symbolizes the believer's identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.

What if I was baptized as an infant?

4

If you were baptized as an infant but have since made a personal decision to follow Jesus, we encourage believer's baptism as a public profession of your own faith. In the New Testament, baptism follows an individual's personal repentance and faith in Christ.
